information about the destination

The heritage farmyard of Tervamäki will take you back in time to the 1950’s. In the surroundings of the farmhouse, which have been restored to their old-time appearance, you can get acquainted with traditional farm work, tools and animals – tame sheep, a ram, a goat and a Finnish horse are waiting for you to come and give them a scratch. In the cowshed with its shingle roof and walls painted with red ochre, you will also find a rooster with his hens, along with other animals and a small museum.

The white main house, a sauna and a log outbuilding are grouped around the yard. The farm organises demonstrations of traditional working methods, guided tours and thematic or cultural events for groups of visitors ranging from preschool children to senior citizens. The rooms on the two floors of the main building sleep 8, or 14 using extra beds (private kitchens and composting toilets, also for wheelchair users). In addition, the outbuildings sleep 5-7.

A garden swing and an outdoor kitchen are at your disposal. You can also bathe in the atmospheric sauna (with shower). Breakfast and lunch available on request (local specialities, pies and pastries, fish chowder, baked turnip). Organic produce, e.g. flour and root vegetables. For those looking for privacy, there is a log cabin on the shores of River Tervajoki, 4 km from the heritage farm. The main building houses the reception and maintenance facilities, a hairdresser’s and a farm shop selling organic produce from the farm. The cowshed and its outdoor area are home to our organic suckler cows. The 4 hectares of heritage biotope pastures and meadows by the riverside offer great biodiversity.
